Notion's agents get their own computer, 24-hour tasks and a ChatGPT plan hook-up
Notion rebuilt its AI agents: they now have their own computer and browser, can work on a task for up to 24 hours, and can use the ChatGPT plan you already pay for. A new credit system is coming with them.
What happened
On October 19, Notion shipped what it called “Agents, rebuilt to do more for less” (Notion). According to Notion’s release notes:
- Notion Agents now have their own computer and browser, smarter context management and a “Review for me” mode with safety checks, and they can work on tasks for up to 24 hours.
- Auto, Notion’s model picker, chooses a model for each task. Notion says that across 20+ common tasks it delivered results similar to Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost.
- You can connect your ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go plan to your personal Notion Agent. Bring-your-own-key is in private alpha for Enterprise.
- Notion MCP was overhauled so outside agents can use Notion as a shared memory, and an “AI Command Center” with spending limits and per-person usage is coming soon.
- All Notion AI usage is moving to a new credit system.
All of the above is from Notion’s release notes. The release notes don’t give credit prices or say how much a typical task will cost under the new system, so for now that’s unknown.
Our take
The interesting part isn’t the 24-hour tasks. It’s that Notion is turning into the place where your other agents keep their notes. If you already use ChatGPT, Claude or Grok Bot, an overhauled Notion MCP means they can read and write the same project pages your team uses.
Who should care: small teams that already run their wiki, projects or CRM in Notion. If you don’t use Notion, this isn’t a reason to start.
What to do now: before you hand an agent a long job, find out what a task costs under the new credits. Use “Review for me” on anything that edits shared pages. If you pay for ChatGPT, try connecting it to your personal Notion Agent first, since you’re already paying for it. Wait for the Command Center’s spending limits before you roll agents out to the whole team.
