The best AI agent for sales and CRM (2026)

Agents that research accounts, draft outreach and keep your CRM up to date, compared on price, which CRMs they connect to, and whether they ask before they send.

Short answer. If your CRM is Salesforce, Agentforce's Sales add-on ($125/user/month) keeps the agent inside your data1. For everyone else, a general agent that can research accounts and draft outreach for you to approve is the better first buy: Grok Bot's "Sales Outbound" job does exactly that2, ChatGPT connects to HubSpot and Gmail3, Gemini Enterprise connects to HubSpot from $21/seat4, and Lindy offers 1,500+ integrations5.

What a sales agent actually does

Strip away the marketing and sales agents do four jobs:

  1. Research: read a prospect's site, news and LinkedIn and summarize why they might buy.
  2. Prioritize: score leads so reps call the right people first.
  3. Draft: write first-touch and follow-up emails in your voice.
  4. Update the CRM: log calls, notes and next steps so the pipeline stays accurate.

The first three are low-risk because a person still decides what goes out. The fourth touches your system of record, so set it up with care.

Picks by situation

You run Salesforce

Agentforce is the natural choice. You can start building for $0 with Salesforce Foundations, then either pay per action (an action is 20 Flex Credits, about $0.10) or buy the $125/user/month Sales add-on for unmetered employee use1. Salesforce's own example of an agent helping 100 users manage cases comes to about $1,800 a month on Flex Credits1; work out your own numbers before you choose.

You want pipeline generated while you sleep

Grok Bot describes its Sales Outbound job as: "Researches accounts, scores contacts with intent, drafts email and LinkedIn in your voice, and leaves a review list for you to approve."2 Bots run on their own cloud computer, work in parallel and keep going 24/72, and they keep context on accounts across conversations (the vendor's example remembers that a customer only signs annual contracts)2.

You live in HubSpot and Gmail

ChatGPT has a HubSpot plugin3 and drafts emails from Gmail or Outlook that you choose to send3. ChatGPT Work can also run tasks when a new Gmail message arrives (Plus and Pro)3, which is handy for "when a lead replies, draft a follow-up and update the deal". On Google Workspace, Gemini Enterprise connects to HubSpot4.

You want many small automations

Lindy is built around integrations and approval steps, from $29.99 a user5. Watch the credits: when they run out, Lindy pauses until reset or a top-up at $10 per 1,0005.

Guardrails that matter in sales

  • Approve every outbound message at first. A bad email in your name costs more than the time saved. Every tool above except Agentforce publishes an approval or draft-first flow23511.
  • Give it a CRM user with limited rights. Let it create notes and tasks, not delete records or change deal stages, until you trust it.
  • Watch for prompt injection. Prospects' websites and email replies are untrusted text. OpenAI warns that agents can be steered by hidden instructions on pages they read12.
  • Respect the rules on cold outreach. Anti-spam and data-protection laws still apply to AI-written email. Check with whoever handles compliance for you.
  • Keep training off for customer data. ChatGPT Business doesn't train on workspace data7; Lindy says it never trains models on your data5; Grok Bot offers a training opt-out2.

A one-week test

  1. Pick 25 target accounts you already know well, so you can judge the research.
  2. Ask the agent for a one-paragraph "why now" per account and a first-touch email.
  3. Score each one: would you send it unedited, after edits, or never?
  4. If more than half are sendable after light edits, connect the CRM with a limited user and let it log notes.
  5. After a month, compare reply rate and rep hours per week with the month before.
