The longer answer. Grok Bot is xAI's "AI teammate": it has its own cloud computer, signs into the tools you use, and keeps working when your laptop is closed1. It starts at $30 a month on Premium1, so it costs more than a $20 assistant. In our hands-on test on one research task it scored 94/100, mainly for speed, against 88.6 for ChatGPT's always-on assistant, whose facts were cleaner. It's worth it if you have repeat tasks inside web apps you log into; if you only want answers and drafts, a $20 plan is enough.
What Grok Bot does
- Works inside your apps: "Log Grok Bot in once. It uses your apps and websites just like you would"1.
- Learns by watching: show it a workflow once and it saves it as a routine to run on its own next time1.
- Several Bots at once: create one per job; they share one persistent cloud computer (files, browser, logins) and can hand work to each other1.
- Where you talk to it: desktop (macOS or Windows) and the iOS app1. Android: unknown.
- Safety and privacy: encrypted cloud computer, training opt-out, and an Auto Review step for sensitive actions; Enterprise admins get DLP and network controls1.

Who should (and shouldn't) buy it
- Good fit: founders and operators with repeat work in web tools (support queues, CRM, reporting) who want it done in the background1.
- Not a fit: people who mostly want chat answers or email drafts. See best AI agent for personal use.
- Before you connect it: any agent that logs into your accounts can make mistakes there. Start with low-risk tools and keep approval on for anything that sends or pays.
